Where I have worked, how I got here, and what I do when I am not looking at data.
I am a data scientist based in Harrogate, in North Yorkshire. Most of my work sits where forecasting, machine learning, and data engineering overlap: building models that people actually make decisions with, and building the pipelines that keep those models fed.
The clearest example is Copa Airlines in Panama, where I built a multivariate flight demand forecasting model covering 84 destinations and processing over 10 million records. That work fed directly into route and revenue planning, and a separate anomaly detection dashboard I built ended up in monthly CEO and VP briefings. Before that I was at Logic Studio in Panama City building ETL pipelines for a national bank and an energy authority, and afterwards I spent a year and a half at Mountain Works in Colorado untangling a decade of messy sales and inventory data ahead of a POS migration.
I studied Computer Science at the United States Air Force Academy, then served as an officer in the Panamanian military. I finished an MSc in Analytics on the computational track at Georgia Tech in late 2023, and more recently completed a fellowship with Booz Allen Hamilton on their Defense Tech AI team through the Hiring Our Heroes programme.
I grew up in Panama and did part of high school and all of my undergrad in the States, so I work in Spanish and English equally comfortably. I now live in Yorkshire with my wife, who is active duty military, which is what brought us here. I hold full work authorisation in the UK and do not require sponsorship.
Outside of work I am usually on a river. I fly fish for trout and grayling on the Nidd and the Wharfe, and further north for salmon when the season allows. Otherwise I am hiking, camping, or somewhere in a science fiction novel, Dune being the one I keep coming back to. Happy to talk about any of it, and even happier to talk about the dog.
